Isobel Coney's Art Ministry
The Grace faith community through Outreach has been blessed to support through prayers and financial assistance the Isobel Coney Art Ministry - begun and facilitated by supporting Grace parishioner Isobel Coney at the Washington Women's Corrections Center. Isobel gained permission to teach art lessons to the women at the prison approximately two years ago. She has developed an 8-week lesson plan with complete details and examples. The art program builds self-confidence and a sense of identity, supporting each woman to develop a vision of a successful life in the community after completion of her sentence. Due to the Covid-19 the lessons were suspended early last year but she is hopeful they will be able to resume in the near future.
