Hoping for Summer Super Suppers
Our Grace faith community has been a part of the Super Supper program on Bainbridge for over 25 years. Until the restrictions of the pandemic we had served complimentary meals on the last Friday of every-other month to approximately 45 island neighbors.
Super Suppers provides a special way to connect with our community, both inside and outside of Grace. Meals are free of charge, and everyone is welcome to be our guest. The Super Supper "team" of volunteers plan the meals and prepare them at Eagle Harbor Community Church kitchen and serve them in the adjoining dining room. The majority of our guests do not have transportation and this location is central to the Winslow area and allows easy walking access.
As anyone who has helped in the Grace kitchen knows, there is a lot of fun and goodness that comes from preparing and serving a meal together. We have a wonderful core team and we share a meal when we finish. It's a very special time to get to know each other better and share ideas.
It has been over a year since we have been able to serve our friends and we are hopeful that plans to resume meals will move forward. These will most probably be 'take-out' meals distributed outside the church until we are able to be back inside the building.
Please keep this longstanding and loving ministry in your Prayers!
Fun Fact: Sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Interfaith Council, Super Suppers is one of Grace Church's longest standing Outreach programs – it's been going for more than 20 years!
