Grace Is Going Solar!
Earth and Spirit is delighted to announce that Grace has been awarded a Clean Energy Grant from the Washington Department of Commerce to install a 32.12 kW, 73-panel solar array on the church roof. Generating approximately 30,670 kWh per year, this project is a vital part of the church’s commitment to environmental stewardship. It is also an important step in strengthening the church’s role as a Bainbridge Island resilience center (HUB), in partnership with The Island School, providing temporary shelter for those stranded on the island in the event of a major disaster. Funding for this project comes from the State of Washington funds generated by the Climate Commitment Act. Cascadia Solar will install the system, and Olympia Community Solar will be the contract manager for the installation. Great care went into selecting a contractor and designing a system that will blend in with the church’s beautiful architecture. Huge thanks to Dan Rohan, Jens Böemer, Dave Haley, Eric Matthews, Ruth Matthews, Terry Jones, Robert Cromwell, Marcy Lagerloef, and Gary Lagerloef for their leadership and hard work. |
