Speaking Up for What's Right
Did you see Grace member Jens Boemer's guest column in the June 12th issue of the Bainbridge Islander? In it, he makes a strong, intelligent, well-reasoned argument in support of the City of Bainbridge Island's use of diversity/equity/inclusion questions when screening applicants for citizen advisory committees. It took bravery, conviction, and time to write this piece as a rebuttal to a prior guest column; “I felt deeply moved to respond,” he shared. Thank you, Jens, for having the courage to be an ally and to model for all of us what courage looks like in these times. —Valerie Reinke |
