Care for Creation ConversationThis Sunday, August 3 We will meet this Sunday after coffee hour in a circle near the altar. We’ve enjoyed wonderful conversations about our sacred natural systems and our place in them. We wonder how to live out our faith while resisting. Can we love and respect those with whom we deeply disagree politically? Is there such a thing as sacred resistance? How shall the church respond? Our Presiding Bishop, Sean Rowe, has written: “We are now being faced with a series of choices between the demands of the federal government and the teachings of Jesus, and that is no choice at all.” Let’s consider these issues together by joining this caring circle. Learn more about the Earth & Spirit ministry at Grace. |

EconTalk: Why Christianity Needs to Help Save Democracy Author Jonathan Rauch, a self-described gay atheist and “nice Jewish boy,” makes a bold and thoughtful case for why Christianity has a vital role in preserving democracy—and why it must embrace what he calls a “thicker” expression of faith. EconTalk: Rational and Religious with Ross Douthat Why do some of life’s deepest mysteries point us toward faith? New York Times columnist Ross Douthat makes the case for religion as a rational response to questions science can’t fully answer. On Being: Ecological Hope and Spiritual Evolution with Christiana Figueres The ecological crisis is both global and deeply personal.
