On Sunday, September 20, we begin our 2027 Annual Stewardship Campaign.

This year, our campaign is rooted in “Growing Grace,” our shared commitment to Inviting, Welcoming, and Connecting with our wider community.

What does it mean to grow Grace?

It means becoming a community where all are welcomed, find belonging and spiritual nourishment, and deepen their relationship with God.

For more than 34 years, Grace has been a community where people have come together to worship, learn, serve, celebrate, and care for one another. As we look to the future, we have an opportunity to build on that legacy and open our doors and hearts even wider.

As we begin this new stewardship season, we invite you to consider:

• What does Grace mean to you?
• What kind of Grace are we being called to become?
• How will you help make that future possible?

Parish Life and the Downtowners will host the 2nd Annual Sunday Sundaes on Sunday, September 20, celebrating the launch of our 2027 Annual Stewardship Campaign!

Sundaes will be available for everyone, young and old, with delicious ice cream and all the toppings you can imagine, generously provided by our very own Rachel Yobs.

And the best part? You can have as many toppings as you like!

Come celebrate the beginning of another year of faith, generosity, and community at Grace. Bring your appetite and your sweet tooth!

Parish Retreat 2026
Friday, September 25 – Sunday, September 27

at Seabeck Conference Center

THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL THIS SUNDAY.

This year’s retreat will invite us to reflect upon spiritual community. We are all on a spiritual path. But the journey we take is done in relationship and inspired by our encounters with others. We journey together. Rev. Eric will guide our reflection on what it means to live in spiritual community through conversation, ritual, and art. There will be opportunities for personal reflection as well as time to get to know our fellow parishioners more deeply. All are welcome.

• Comfortable rooms & all meals provided
• Set your own pace of engagement
• Full roster of engaging activities for kids & youth
• A dynamic community artist will provide both kids and adult programming.
• Full schedule of events to follow.

Registration and payment

• Overnight cost is $350 per adult.
Includes two nights’ lodging, meals, activities, and Friday/Saturday social hours.

• Day-only cost is $100 per adult for all three days.

Meet our Guest Artist

Participants will have the opportunity to create in varied visual media through the lens of storytelling, community, and connection facilitated by artist and arts educator Mariah Ordonez, MAT, NBCT. View her website.

Multiple modes of art-making will be available, including self-guided stations, ongoing collaborations, and guided arts experiences rooted in presence, gratitude, and storytelling.

We warmly invite you to consider joining the Music Circle. The Music Circle is made up of musicians of a variety of ages and skill levels who provide music for the Sunday 9:30 am service and for special liturgies throughout the year. Do you sing or play an instrument that would benefit worship? Please consider joining. We rehearse on Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. If you are interested but not available during the rehearsal time, or you're looking for a short-term commitment, you are still welcome to get involved. Contact Kim Thompson for more information.

Bring your companion animals for our yearly Blessing of the Animals service. Please keep your leashed dogs with you on the Walker Hall side of the sanctuary. Other animals are welcome on the Sunday School side. Larger animals will receive a blessing outdoors.

Have you ever wanted to share your reactions to something that stirred in you during the Sunday service? Perhaps it was a question the homily raised, an emotional response to the music, or something said during the Children’s Moment. It could even be the light streaming in the sanctuary.

Soul Reflections is a new small group during which you can share your thoughts. A facilitator will lead it every Sunday after the 9:30 service, starting Sunday, October 4. Hope you can come!

Did you know that Grace has a labyrinth and a time capsule? Did you know that there is a zinc line that runs down the middle of the sanctuary? Come on a tour of the Grace building and grounds to learn more about our beautiful church, grounds, and trails! Please meet in the Narthex at 11:00 after you have gotten some treats. See you there!

Grace and our project partners are thrilled to announce the completed construction of a 32 kW solar power system on our rooftop. This ceremony and workshop are a great opportunity to learn more about the benefits of solar, meet the individuals and organizations that have made this project a reality, and celebrate Grace’s commitment to caring for the Earth and supporting and empowering residents of Bainbridge Island.

The program will include:

9:00 am: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

10:00 am: Educational workshop 

Please RSVP to ensure we have enough refreshments and seating for all attendees. The ceremony will be held on the outdoor patio, weather permitting. Outdoor seating will be available.

Food insecurity is rising worldwide and here in Kitsap County. The Bainbridge Island/North Kitsap Interfaith Council is responding this fall with EVERYBODY EATS WEEK, a series of fundraising and food collection events that will help hungry people locally and globally during the week of September 20–27.

Sunday, September 20: The one-mile CROP WALK fundraiser begins and ends at Eagle Harbor United Church of Christ (105 Winslow Way W) at 2 pm. Walk funds will benefit Church World Service, Helpline House, and Fishline.

A generous anonymous donor has agreed to match the funds we raise for this Walk.

Join Grace in walking to support our own Kim Cockroft and all those affected by breast cancer.

Making Strides Seattle, hosted by the American Cancer Society, is a wonderful way to show support while helping raise money and awareness for breast cancer prevention, treatment, and a cure. Sometimes when we feel helpless, moving forward — together — is exactly what we can do. Please see the details below and sign up! This is a family- and dog-friendly event. Walk starts at 10:30 am at Pier 62 (1951 Alaskan Way, Seattle). No car needed, as it is just north of the ferry terminal.

Join The Rev. Canon Carla Robinson for our online offering of anti-racism training. All lay church leaders are highly encouraged to complete this program. This one-day training experience is based on “Seeing the Face of God in Each Other: The Antiracism Training Manual of the Episcopal Church.” Learn more and register here.
