EconTalk: Rational and Religious with Ross Douthat Why do some of life’s deepest mysteries point us toward faith? New York Times columnist Ross Douthat makes the case for religion as a rational response to questions science can’t fully answer. Summer Camp Décor
Hey church family! We’re getting ready for Summer Camp and looking to borrow some fun, outdoorsy, or “campy” décor to help transform our space. If you have anything in storage that might fit the theme, we’d love to give it a temporary home! Examples:
We promise to take good care of everything and return it right after camp (August 22). If you can help or have questions, please get in touch with me at youth@gracehere.org, or bring items to church by August 15. Thanks for helping us make camp extra special for the kids! Melissa Meyers |

Update from Resettlement With Grace
First of all, thank you all for your support over the last six months in resettling the Sayed Hashimi and Aziz Ahmadi families. We have appreciated your prayers and your donations of clothing, furnishings, household supplies, toys, and money! The families have crossed a major hurdle – both husbands are employed! The RWG team continues to assess what will be required in the coming months in order for the families to reach full independence, as $22/hour jobs cannot fully cover even the cost of their rent and utilities. The Sameer H. family, still in Afghanistan, has learned that the State Department has just reactivated the final processing of his SIV application. This family of five was one of the two families RWG had initially expected to sponsor through WelcomeCorps until that State Department program was terminated in February. Should Sameer receive his SIV to enter the U.S., RWG will honor the commitment made to him three years ago to sponsor his family. In summary, in the void created by the defunding of the 10 core U.S. non-profit resettlement agencies this past January — including Episcopal Migration Ministries, which has closed its doors — we of the RWG team recognize the void that exists right here in the Diocese of Olympia. The RWG team has entered a phase of discernment regarding the future of RWG. We welcome your prayers of guidance and support. Tax-deductible donations to RWG can be made through Grace Episcopal Church (please write “RWG” in your check’s memo line). If you have any thoughts or questions, please feel free to call Kathy Deasy at (928) 606-3410 or Scott Deasy at (928) 606-2098. — Kathy & Scott Deasy, Barbara & Kelly Hume, & Kathy Gillogley |
