Connect With Newcomers!

The Connect Team is working to create new ways for the Grace community to practice inclusion and form relationships with newcomers as we continue to grow. A Spiritual Journey to Grace

A Spiritual Journey to Grace

Rev. Linda Baker’s spiritual outlook today blends Christianity with Eastern philosophies. As young parents, she and her high school sweetheart initially returned to church to broaden their children’s worldview. They joined the United Methodist Church, where she was able to use her degree in music education and teach Sunday school. After several years, she felt called to study at Claremont School of Theology, leading to her ordination as a Deacon in Full Connection serving the local church, with responsibilities for Christian education and congregational nurture.

After her second husband’s death in 2015, Linda moved north from Oregon to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Though initially hesitant, Linda visited Grace at her friends’ urging and, from her first visit, felt at home and welcomed. You’ll find her sitting in the music circle on Sunday mornings. She is passionate about being in and creating community.

In retirement, Linda serves on the board of her Poulsbo homeowners association and facilitates a monthly women’s Parkinson’s caregiver group, which has played a central role in supporting her through her own grief. A lovely fact about Linda is that music is still central to her spiritual practice: she plays Native American flute, loves drumming, and is learning harmonica. Welcome to Grace, Linda!

Homecoming Sunday

Homecoming Sunday

Sunday, September 13

Grace’s annual Homecoming Barbeque will be on September 13, following the 9:30 service, on the patio. It’s a time for friends to reconnect and share a meal, and there will be fun activities for kids.

For food, think autumn: please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. Hot dogs, sausages, brats, and a condiment bar will be provided. Sign up to help using the link below.

Bring your kids and grandkids as we kick off our NEW CHILDREN’S PROGRAM! This year, we’re doing some things differently by building volunteer teams to lead rotating offerings of art, drama, music, games, and faith foundations—along with our traditions of ritual and storytelling.

We’d love to have your help on any of those teams. If you’re interested in getting involved, please email Kim Cockroft, Director of Faith Formation.

We’re looking forward to launching a brand-new year of exciting programs!
