Volunteer Coordinator for Children and Youth Programs

Volunteer Coordinator for Children and Youth Programs

Melissa Meyers has taken on an exciting role at the Montessori Country School here on the island. At the same time, she wants to stay engaged at Grace and will continue building our Youth Program. I am grateful for that. She has done an extraordinary job in working with our middle school youth this year. It's not easy to start a program like this from scratch, but she has done so with imagination and vision.

With the start of a new job, however, Melissa will need to reduce her work hours at Grace and step back from coordinating volunteers for the Children’s Programming on Sunday mornings. We will need someone to help step in and fill this gap. We have decided to create a paid Volunteer Coordinator position at 10 hours a week. Please check out the job listing, and if you know someone who may be a good fit, please pass the word along.

Thank you!
Rev. Eric

Gallery at Grace Artist Reception

Gallery at Grace Artist Reception

Sunday, September 6

The Gallery at Grace is delighted to host Matthew X. Curry in an exhibit of his stunning sculptural pieces. An artist reception will follow Sunday’s 9:30 am service.

Matthew X. Curry: Curry-osity Killed the Matt
Introspective | Retrospective

Matthew X. Curry (MXC) constructs clever multi-media pieces featuring unparalleled woodworking skills and precise joinery. An architect by training, MXC’s sculpture, furniture, and exotic wood boxes defy traditional expectations, instead offering surprising new geometries.

Sound and Video Volunteers Needed

We are looking for a few more volunteers to help with our A/V needs for Sunday services. Sound techs run the sound system, and video techs run the video for the livestream at the 9:30 am service. We are looking for people who have some technological aptitude to serve once a month. Training will be provided. Trained techs will also have opportunities for paid work during rentals, weddings, memorial services, and other special events. Contact Kim Thompson for more information.

Connect With Newcomers!

Connect With Newcomers!

The Connect Team is working to create new ways for the Grace community to practice inclusion and form relationships with newcomers as we continue to grow. You can learn what brought a newcomer to Grace by reading their biographies in the eNews. If you see someone at Grace who might be new, strike up a conversation. You might have more in common than you think!

Dorothy and Chris Timma

Dorothy and Chris Timma

Many of you may know lifelong islander and Episcopalian Dorothy Timma. She and her husband, Chris, came to Grace from Faith Episcopal Church in Poulsbo. After watching Grace services online, Dorothy was drawn to the liturgy and Eric’s homilies. Already acquainted with several members, she quickly joined Liz Shaw and the Connect Team (newcomer/welcome). Dorothy also delights in our children, Kim Cockroft’s wonderful Children’s Moment, and she helped with Grace Kids’ Camp in August. A fun fact in a “Small World” sort of way: Dorothy’s godmother was St. Barnabas stalwart Anne Powell, and she swam in Powell's saltwater pool that occasionally welcomed seals when they jumped the barrier between the pool and Pt. Madison waters! Welcome Dorothy and Chris!

Homecoming Sunday

Homecoming Sunday

Sunday, September 13

Grace’s annual Homecoming Barbeque will be on September 13, following the 9:30 service, on the patio. It’s a time for friends to reconnect and share a meal, and there will be fun activities for kids.

For food, think autumn: please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. Hot dogs, sausages, brats, and a condiment bar will be provided. Sign up to help using the link below.

Bring your kids and grandkids as we kick off our NEW CHILDREN’S PROGRAM! This year, we’re doing some things differently by building volunteer teams to lead rotating offerings of art, drama, music, games, and faith foundations—along with our traditions of ritual and storytelling.

We’d love to have your help on any of those teams. If you’re interested in getting involved, please email Kay Roach or Kathy Gillogley, or sign up using the link below.

We’re looking forward to launching a brand-new year of exciting programs!
